The name of my person is Sojourner Truth. She was born in upstate New York circa 1797. Her real  name she was born with is  Isabella Baumfree .Sojourner Truth was one of, 12 children born to James and Elizabeth Baumfree .Truth's date of birth was not recorded, but historians estimate that she was likely born around 1797. In the yaesr of  1806 she learned to speak english for the first time.Around 1815, Truth fell in love with a slave named Robert. They had a daughter named, Diana.Robert's owner didn't allow the relationship.Robert and Sojourner Truth were seperated, never saw each other again.Sojourner was forced to marry Thomas, who was an older slave.They had  a son, Peter, and two daughters, Elizabeth and Sophia. In late 1826 she escaped with her infant daughter to freedom.Her other daughter and son stayed behind.Shortly after her escape, Truth found out that her son Peter had been illegally sold to a man in Alabama, She took the issue.
